<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>If its still giving you the error message &#8220;Nearly up-to-date! Relaunch Google Chrome to finish updating. Relaunch&#8221;, then you can follow these steps to resolve this issue:</p>
<p>[<span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>IMPORTANT</strong></span>: Please  backup all your chrome bookmarks and other chrome related data before attempting this troubleshooting just to be on the safe side.]</p>
<p><strong>Step 1</strong>. <strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">Close all active chrome windows</span></strong></p>
<p>Open task manger to check if there are any instance of chrome running.</p>
<p>If you are on Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 machine, Press CTRL+ALT+DEL together in your keyboard, and click  &#8220;<strong>Task Manager</strong>&#8220;.</p>
<p>Now, you will find chrome in the list, right click that and select &#8220;<strong>End Task</strong>&#8221; for any process that says &#8220;Google Chrome&#8221;.</p>
<p><img decoding="async" data-attachment-id="1792" data-permalink="https://techantidote.com/fix-problem-nearly-up-to-date-relaunch-google-chrome-to-finish-updating-relaunch/end-task-for-all-chrome/" data-orig-file="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/end-task-for-all-chrome.png" data-orig-size="655,609" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-title="end task for all chrome" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-large-file="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/end-task-for-all-chrome.png" class="alignnone wp-image-1792 size-full" src="http://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/end-task-for-all-chrome.png" alt="end task for all chrome" width="655" height="609" srcset="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/end-task-for-all-chrome.png 655w, https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/end-task-for-all-chrome-300x279.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 655px) 100vw, 655px" /></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Step 2</strong>. <strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">Delete old chrome&#8217;s executable and folder</span></strong></p>
<p>Now, Browse to the following folder:<br />
<span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\</strong></span></p>
<p>You will see two executable files there: <span style="color: #3366ff;"><strong>chrome</strong> </span>and <span style="color: #3366ff;"><strong>new_chrome</strong></span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="1793" data-permalink="https://techantidote.com/fix-problem-nearly-up-to-date-relaunch-google-chrome-to-finish-updating-relaunch/file-location/" data-orig-file="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/file-location.png" data-orig-size="775,332" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-title="file location" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-large-file="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/file-location.png" class="alignnone wp-image-1793 size-full" src="http://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/file-location.png" alt="file location C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\" width="775" height="332" srcset="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/file-location.png 775w, https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/file-location-300x129.png 300w, https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/file-location-768x329.png 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 775px) 100vw, 775px" /></p>
<p>Right click on<span style="color: #3366ff;"> <strong>chrome</strong></span> and select &#8220;<strong>Delete</strong>&#8220;.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="1794" data-permalink="https://techantidote.com/fix-problem-nearly-up-to-date-relaunch-google-chrome-to-finish-updating-relaunch/delete-chrome/" data-orig-file="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/delete-chrome.png" data-orig-size="657,719" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-title="delete chrome" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-large-file="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/delete-chrome.png" class="alignnone wp-image-1794 size-full" src="http://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/delete-chrome.png" alt="delete chrome.exe " width="657" height="719" srcset="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/delete-chrome.png 657w, https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/delete-chrome-274x300.png 274w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 657px) 100vw, 657px" /></p>
<p>Now, rename executable file &#8220;<span style="color: #3366ff;"><strong>new_chrome</strong></span>&#8221; to &#8220;<span style="color: #3366ff;"><strong>chrome</strong></span>&#8220;. So after renaming it will look like this:</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="1795" data-permalink="https://techantidote.com/fix-problem-nearly-up-to-date-relaunch-google-chrome-to-finish-updating-relaunch/renamed/" data-orig-file="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/renamed.png" data-orig-size="263,197" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-title="renamed" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-large-file="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/renamed.png" class="alignnone wp-image-1795 size-full" src="http://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/renamed.png" alt="rename new_chrome to chrome" width="263" height="197" /></p>
<p>Now, Delete the folder with the older version number. In my case, I deleted the folder &#8220;<strong>49.0.2623.39</strong>&#8220;.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="1796" data-permalink="https://techantidote.com/fix-problem-nearly-up-to-date-relaunch-google-chrome-to-finish-updating-relaunch/delete-old-chrome-version-folder/" data-orig-file="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/delete-old-chrome-version-folder.png" data-orig-size="547,703" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-title="delete old chrome version folder" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-large-file="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/delete-old-chrome-version-folder.png" class="alignnone wp-image-1796 size-full" src="http://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/delete-old-chrome-version-folder.png" alt="delete old chrome folder 49.0.2623.39" width="547" height="703" srcset="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/delete-old-chrome-version-folder.png 547w, https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/delete-old-chrome-version-folder-233x300.png 233w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 547px) 100vw, 547px" /></p>
<p><strong>Step 3</strong>. <strong><span style="color: #3366ff;">Verify chrome version</span></strong></p>
<p>Open up your chrome browser. Check the &#8220;<strong>About</strong>&#8221;</p>
<p><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="1791" data-permalink="https://techantidote.com/fix-problem-nearly-up-to-date-relaunch-google-chrome-to-finish-updating-relaunch/check-chrome-about/" data-orig-file="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/check-chrome-about.png" data-orig-size="579,459" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-title="check chrome about" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-large-file="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/check-chrome-about.png" class="alignnone wp-image-1791 size-full" src="http://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/check-chrome-about.png" alt="check chrome about" width="579" height="459" srcset="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/check-chrome-about.png 579w, https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/check-chrome-about-300x238.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 579px) 100vw, 579px" /></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" data-attachment-id="1786" data-permalink="https://techantidote.com/fix-problem-nearly-up-to-date-relaunch-google-chrome-to-finish-updating-relaunch/chrome-update-fixed-2/" data-orig-file="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/chrome-update-fixed-1.png" data-orig-size="412,364" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-title="chrome update fixed" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-large-file="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/chrome-update-fixed-1.png" class="alignnone wp-image-1786 size-full" src="http://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/chrome-update-fixed-1.png" alt="chrome update error fixed" width="412" height="364" srcset="https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/chrome-update-fixed-1.png 412w, https://techantidote.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/chrome-update-fixed-1-300x265.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 412px) 100vw, 412px" /></p>
